History of Site and Related Water Issues

Gwynn Falls/ Leakin Park is part of the Pataspco River that empties into the Chesapeake Bay, one of the largest estuaries in the World. This is a beautiful urban park , second in size to Central park in New York City, designed by the Olmestead Brothers. It has an old mansion on the premises with an old water wheel that supplied water to the main house and surrounding orchards. Water quality is an issue as pollution has been a longstanding problem.
