History of Site and Related Water Issues:

Seneca Lake is the largest of the glacial Finger Lakes. It is the deepest lake in New York state. The climate and the landscape lends itself to grape growing. The Finger Lakes have many wineries surrounding the lakes.
History: Hundreds of years ago the Iroquois Indian villages surrounded the lake. There is a strange cannon like booms that can be heard and felt on Seneca Lake and this phenomena is called Seneca Guns.
Currently Seneca Lake is a Class AA drinking water
source for over 100,000 people. There is a real threat to the safety of our water by the Crestwood Company which is a company who stores pressurized natural gas in the salt caverns in the lake. There are several groups that have been fighting to keep our lake free of this gas storage and have been heavily promoting the safety of the environment and the people and advocates to stop this company increasing its storage. The two groups are We Are Seneca Lake and Gas Free Seneca Lake.

Music:

In addition to the music and choreography provided by Global Water Dance I will be using two or three other pieces of music for choreography. 1. “Isa” by Wardruna (this reminds me of the Seneca Drums that I have heard and experienced at my cottage on the lake) 2. “Still Waters” by Koshanin 3. Possibly “The Road” by A Tribe Called Red I also have asked a local musical artist Tenzin Chopak out of Ithaca to play a couple of his original pieces of acoustical/folk songs.

The Performance:

Myself as well as other dancers/teachers from surrounding areas totaling 8-10. Some students of mine 8-10. I am doing an open invite to the public for another 8-10.
The largest group dance would be the choreography provided by the organization.
We will be dancing on the water front park and possibly one dance will be done in the water. We will not have a “front” of audience as it will most likely be in the round. Boats in water will also be the audience.
Costumes simple. Probably create a color theme white pieces with a light green or light blue accent.

Environmental Impact:

I have talked with the village and the possibility of more garbage cans to keep our environment and water clean starting directly with each and every one of us. There are also the organizations I stated above. I am still investigating.
