History of Site and Related Water Issues:

The Havenwelten are a maritime district of the port city Bremerhaven in the area of the old and new harbor. Due to the change in harbor operation, the harbor and commercial areas near the city center at the two oldest and smallest port basins became increasingly unattractive for the port industry. The need for the conversion of these surfaces arose. As part of the conversion, the new orientation of the core city of Bremerhaven will be driven forward between the shopping center with the Columbus Center and the classic shopping street Bürgermeister-Smidt-Strasse and the Weserdeich on the other hand with partially developed structures on land and extensive water surfaces of a classic German harbor city.
The Haven Plaza is a part of the Havenwelten, located in close proximity to the Klimahaus. The Klimahaus Bremerhaven 8° Ost is a unique knowledge and experience world about climate, climate change and weather. Our main water issue is how climate change affects water supplies worldwide, how much our consumption affects water supplies worldwide. Another important issue for us is water pollution.

Music:

We will be using the official music for GWD. Additionally we will be using songs by the Polish band “Under the table”.

The Performance:

The Bremerhaven group of performers is gradually increasing in number. The performers are mostly amateurs, some have dance experience, and so far all are women.
We’ve decided to wear individual costumes, all white with some “water colors” added.
At this point we don’t want to reveal too much of the dance. There will be lines, there will be clusters…

Environmental Impact:

In the long run we are working on creating a stable partnership with several local environmental organizations. This year we are happy to team up with the North-South Forum Bremerhaven e.V. The North-South Forum Bremerhaven e.V. is an alliance of different groups, organizations and interested individuals who deal with the North-South problem, with human rights and environmental issues.

Directions to the Site of Performance:

The performance site is located next to Hochschule Bremerhaven, An der Karlsburg.
