History of site and related water issues
The Serpentine Wall is a massive contoured wall of steps forming the boundary to the Ohio River at Yeatman’s Cove and Sawyer Point near downtown Cincinnati. The wall has practical as well as aesthetic purposes, since the water levels in the river can fluctuate widely. These steps are used as informal bleachers for riverfront events, such as the Tall Stacks festival, and speedboat races. This is also a popular place to just hang out and watch the barges and other river traffic on a beautiful day. The Ohio River is an integral part of our city, its history and commerce, and it is an important source of water in the region. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/wallyg/239990506/)
The Music
In addition to the official GWD music, our performance included original music composed by Shari Lauter. The individual choreographers who created works in one section of the GWD included taped and live original music.
