Halifax

Water Locale, Audience Site and History

The proposed area was Blackrock Beach, Point Pleasant Park. The Halifax Harbour has long been polluted as a result of two centuries of direct raw sewage discharge into its waters. The harbour’s deep water, tidal dispersal of surface wastes and a relatively small population of the city of Halifax meant that there were few health concerns. That is, until the late 20th century when sewage build-up caused the shut-down of all harbour beaches.

The Performance

Although we were not able to perform at our chosen location, three determined dancers plus a videographer braved the elements to perform in the middle of a dramatic, wet storm. Though the performance was live streamed, we were not able to create a video recording.
