History of Site and Related Water Issues:
Murciélago beach is the most popular beach in Manta. It is always the number 1 choice for tourists and locals, which makes it the most vulnerable for contamination.
Our main water issue has always been the lack of clean water or manye times, the lack of water at all. This year we had a strong winter (hot and rainy season) and we had a lot of rain with it´s consequences like mudslides and overflowing rivers. ironically, the more it rained, the less drinking/washing water we had.
Our poor city planning and water systems have been a problem for years and this year it was a great example on how bad water system and human contamination can be a horrible combination. All of the sewer systems overflowed thanks to all of the trash that accumulated in the streets.
Many other water issues happen around here, but that is the main one. We will use this as our inspiration to create consciousness
