History of Site and Related Water Issues:

The Fourteen Falls is located to the Eastern Part of Kenya in Kiambu County.Fourteen Falls is a spectacular 27 meter deep waterfall that derives its name from the 14 distinct falls that cut across the Athi River.
***
The Falls are still a sight to behold from afar but the closer you get the faster they lose the allure. The amount of garbage running down the river under the falls and pretty much everywhere is a real eye sore and certainly limits the experience. The River which was once clean is littered with plastic bags, bottles and wastes from nearby factories and establishments. Locals say the authorities have done little to keep the water clean. According to my source long before the river was destroyed people used to fetch the water for drinking, but now even the sewage is dumped into the river making it unsafe for use. Walking down the river you could kids swim in the river which for me is a health hazard.
***
There is a lot to see and do while in this scenic site, boating, fishing, photography, plant identification, and bird watching among other activities. The falls are impressive; however the amount of garbage and pollution all over the place is a huge detriment and tarnishes the experience. The falls have so much potential if it were not the neglect from the authorities.

Environmental Impact:

People will be informed about need to keep their water clean and in turn join the drive to clean the river and keep it safe by themselves without depending on the authorities. The River and the scenic sight of the Fpourteen falls has been a source of income to many youth and young adults here who act as guides around the caves and falls. Also fishing has been going on here and we believe if the river is reclaimed there just could be possibilities that fishing will thrive.

Directions to the Site of Performance:
