History of Site and Related Water Issues

The “Umbrellas” is a sculpture created by the Greek artist Zogolopoulos. Zogolopoulos art is about horizontalizing any exoteric and vertical/ hierarchical imposition that, especially within hegemonic structures, bares the mask of an absolute necessity. In the name of Greek depression, this “by necessity” absolute, manifests in the name of privatized profit. As a result, both the Public Water Corporation of Greece and Thessaloniki’s harbor are about to become privatized puppets within a theatre that is mainly directed by privileged minorities.

Rain during the first workshop / rehearsal. In general the site was great for this kind of performance. The “Umbrellas” is a sculpture created by the Greek artist Zogolopoulos. The performative interplay between local and global is extremely unique. GWD is an extremely interesting, challenging and wonderful process.
Both audience and dancers seem to enjoy moving together for a shared cause. One of the dancers commented: “I didn’t know that dancing could be something other than ballroom or ballet”
